ALL ALONE Limited Edition, by Aaron Goulding/JAG Media Productions On December 21, 2012 the Mayan Calendar was said to end which many thought would be the end of the world. But a small group of surfers decided to chase a swell out of the northern hemisphere that had hopes of reaching 60 to 80 feet at the infamous Cortes Bank located one hundred miles off the coast of San Diego. Cortes Bank has only been surfed a handful of times over the last few decades. On this day, legends were made and egos broken. On the afternoon of December 21, 2012, one of surfing?s big wave legends was almost killed on a very large wave. After being medivaced by chopper, the most amazing sunset insued! It looked as though an atomic bomb went off to the west. Fearing the prophecy of the Mayan Calendar, it was difficult to sleep that night next to sixty foot walls of water crashing in the distance. But in the morning we were ALL ALONE.
